Welcome to Unique in Glass
You can view products or commission a special piece by making an appointment for a private viewing. This is a great chance to meet the artist Willa and view her work in person.
You can also see us at various shows around the UK throughout the year. To read all about our latest news, up and coming shows near you and our amazing artists exhibiting at the gallery this month click here.
Commissions are welcome. Created by our artist, Willa Story, who specialises techniques featuring mosaic and stained glass. Willa enjoys collaborating with clients to produce unique truly one-off artwork. Nothing is too small or too large; from a glass flower to stained glass windows, mosaic screens, lamps, door panels, furniture or shutters. Smaller handcrafted items are also available for sale on our online shop.
Willa Story
Willa grew up in the North East, but spent twenty years living and working in London. She trained as a theatre designer and worked in this field for several years whilst developing her own style and methods as a self taught glass artist. She derives her own special artistic brand, unusual medium techniques with trademark metallic grout through both inspiration and experience. In London, Willa became one of the leading glass artists before returning to the North East in 2001 to launch her business ‘Unique In Glass’. Her studio is based at a Northumbrian farmhouse near the Roman Wall, where the magnificent countryside and historic interest supplies a constant inspiration.
Willa specialises in artwork which combines stained glass and mosaic techniques to produce a fusion of bold designs with a traditional flavour. Her company, ‘Unique In Glass’, handcrafts large and small scale, one-off designs for abstract art pieces, mirrors, fire screens, panels, furniture, windows, doors and sculpture. Designs characteristically feature hand cut stained glass combined with wood, shell, gem stones or metal.
Pieces created at ‘Unique In Glass’ are sold, usually by Commissions, throughout the North, London and at exhibitions around the country.
They are created for individual clients such as home owners and for the commercial sector, for restaurants, interior design companies, schools, large businesses, as well as for galleries.
